Origin Story of Punch Love
About Liz Punch — Founder, Punch Love Lifestyle
A Yorkshire woman living in beautiful British Columbia, raising her family & building her career and life. Twists & Turns in her journey, and a ‘Punch Love’ story was born.
This is not a polished founder bio. It is the real story — the one that Punch Love and She Fell Open were built from.
If you are here, you probably are going through the hard thing(s). Maybe you've just started, or maybe you are in the thick of it and feel stuck or overwhelmed. Not sure where to turn or what help you need? So did I, more than once!
Punch is more than my surname,
Combine it with Love and it became my philosophy
I grew up in Yorkshire, England and moved to British Columbia in my early 20’s. In Yorkshire, we get on with it, you don't make a fuss, you laugh at yourself before anyone else gets the chance. You are tough, capable, and quietly, fiercely proud of where you come from.
Those qualities are in my bones — but I forgot them for a while, distracted by life's challenges and the overwhelming loneliness of being your own support system. Moving away from family has been one of the hardest things to deal with.
My husband and I are polar opposites. I believe love conquers all — I am, unapologetically, a Hallmark movie. He has a tough exterior and it takes a minute to crack open the shell. We joke that I am champagne to his whisky — although lately I quite like a whisky or bourbon. We came to each other with different journeys, different backgrounds, different families, different cultures and philosophies on life. Getting married again after a painful divorce was not the triumphant end to my heartache but the beginning of my growth.
What bonded us was something I recognised immediately. He has the same hardworking ethic. The same kind heart underneath the tough shell. The same Yorkshire understanding that you face the hard things, you don't run from them, and you build something worth standing on.
Punch Love is what you need when you feel that life is too much, too hard, too impossible to overcome — and you feel vulnerable for needing a helping hand or heart. When you become steadfast in who you are, but allow yourself to open up to the possibilities and decide that falling in love with yourself and the life you want is worth the fight. You will create something meaningful — for yourself, for each other, for your families and for your professional success. I can promise you it's not easy. But it's worth the mess and the work.
I am not a perfect story. I am not sitting on the other side of my mess; I have battled through divorce, motherhood, blending families, professional harassment and physical & emotional burnout— but in reality, the hard stuff is just part of life. There will always be adversity, challenges and some heartbreak. But it's in the how we deal with it that makes the difference. Punch Love enables you to confront, to heal, to move through the hard time with grace and growth. And those same qualities — the grit, the honest heart, the willingness to keep going — are exactly what I bring to the women I work with.
"Yorkshire grit & growth is within all of us — some of us are born with it and some of us learn it but all of us can master it!"
I would not be broken.
My own philosophy after divorce was simple. I would not be broken by it. I didn't try to become someone new. I didn't reinvent myself or rebrand my life. Instead I came home. To my heritage, to my upbringing, to the Yorkshire woman who had always known how to face a hard thing and find a path through it.
My roots grounded me. And when I was grounded I became more open — to possibility, to love, to the life I was actually meant to be living.
I consciously fell open, not apart.
That is where ‘She Fell Open’ was born — from a deliberate choice to let the hard thing crack me open rather than break me down. To let what was already inside me — the grit, the warmth, the belief that you can conquer all, and the courage to learn — to be enough.
If you are in the middle of your own hard thing — I will guide you back to yourself and provide you with the supports you need practically, emotionally and physically. You have what it takes to get through it, it may feel impossible now but little by little, you will come home to yourself and create your own path.
The tough things can pull you down, but not apart. Fall Open to the possibilities of a new life.
"I consciously fell open. Not apart. And that decision changed everything."
